Detoxification is a popular word and it’s often used in the wrong way and made popular from companies exploiting detoxing through shakes powders and systems that don’t really detox the body they just suppress or stimulate the symptoms.
Detoxing simple means cleanse or to clean!
Each and every night you go to sleep your body detoxes and you cleanse the waste from your body though your GI tract, your stools, your kidneys, your skin and your lungs and while your body sleeps or rest not through most foods you eat. This confuses people as they eat ‘detoxing foods’…there are foods that can help give your body nutrients and build healthy cells…but it is not the food that detoxes the body it is the lymphatic system and when the body is in a resting repair state.
In our lifestyle nowadays we are all so toxic and backed up and find cleansing the body harder and harder. Each cell all trillion of them excretes waste within your body and that has to be removed, if this is not possible the body becomes acidic. And when we eat acidic foods and excessively work out and have negative thoughts we produce an very acidic environment and this has to be buffered through the blood.
When you stop consuming acid ash and mucus forming foods the body will start the detoxification cycle, and you will experience symptoms of discomfort. These acids dehydrate the body and burn the vital tissues, glands and organs causing them to fall into dysfunction, creating the symptoms we suffer with and the whole medical system and pharmaceutical industry is based around…
We have 2 fluids in the body the blood and the lymph fluid. If the lymph is not moving and the body has lots of acid it becomes damaged or burned and the kidney get damaged and the body send you signals like skin issues, asthma, colds, flu, pain, poor eyes sight, headaches and then if you don’t listen….cancers. That was just my whole life there!!
So we are all so constipated and backed up with toxins and it expresses it self in your everyday symptoms. All diseases are an over burden waste system and all disease and symptoms need to be treated in exactly the same way…HOW? Detox the body, clean it out to allow it to repair by it self.
SO IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT LIKE THIS,
IF YOU BODY TRIES TO CLEAN YOU EACH NIGHT AND YOU KEEP FILLING IT WITH CRAP…. IT WILL ONLY EVER GET TO CLEAN THE CRAP…. NOT THE HEALTHY CELL WASTE, MEANING YOU NEVER MOVE FORWARD AND WILL GET SICKER AND SICKER EACH DAY!
Why are we so toxic? Our thoughts, the food we eat the lifestyle we have…we come in to contact with toxins each and everyday!!
So how do you detox?
Stop harming your body with acid practices
Stop putting in toxic unnatural foods
Stop allowing negative thoughts to run your life
Stop negative relationships
Regular weekly saunas
High fruit low fat eating
Gentle exercise to move your lymphatic system
Fasting and water and juice cleanses
If it has an ingredient list – it has been processed don’t put it in your body SIMPLE!
We must digest the food we consume, we must absorb the foods we consume, we must utilize the foods we consume, and we must eliminate the foods we consume.
So the only food that can help pull waste and mucus from your body is fruit….nothing else just raw ripe fruit or juice. Why, because it is easy to digest and doesn’t cause an acid ash waste in the body. So when you stop digesting the body can actually heal…
Even vegetables and greens are not pulling detoxing foods they are building foods and will slow down the detoxification process BUT THEY ARE NOT HARMFUL JUST SLOW IT DOWN.
So to be a real detox cleanse it has to be through either:
A mono fruit cleanse WHICH WILL GIVE THE DIGESTION A REST AND GIVES YOU NUTRIENTS….
Juice cleanse WHICH ALMOST SWITCHES OF THE DIGESTION BUT STILL GIVES YOU NUTRIENTS…
Water fast WHICH TURNS OFF DIGESTION COMPLETELY so you can have 100% energy for healing and eating up damaged cells.
Or a Dry fast which I won’t talk about here but you can contact me about.
There are ways to take the pressure of the system and improve your health but to get real detoxing at an intense level it has to be taking the pressure of the body to allow the body to rest and repair… so NO shake powders, nutritional super powders or detox bar will do that.
So the ideal is to move between a healthy eating lifestyle low in fat and high in fruits and greens… and then do periods of deep cleaning where the digestive tract is not engage and all the blood can go to the brain and to healing and you build up to that with guidance from myself.
If you want to detox the body the fats must be low or completely out for that time. Especially if you’re eating high fruits. Our Autistic kids need higher fats for there brains but there are ways to still detox them safely.
So lets re cap the body detoxes constantly on it’s own and especially at night so keeping your eating window to maximum 6-7 hours is key. But you must take the pressure of so it can eat up the damaged cells remove the mucus and filter the kidneys.
Foods that will stop you detoxing are:
Oils of all types
Supplements and Isolates
Caffeines and Cacaos
Cooked foods (will slow you down)
Why no oils in detoxing?
Because they stop the simple sugars from fruit reaching the cells causing debates. That fruit then ferments and causing gas bloating rashes and exhaustion.
Once you have detoxified and are clean add the healthy fats back in.
When you are not detoxing properly and you are still added mucus forming foods in and negative thoughts and environmental toxins the mucus get produces to protect the body, and it lines the intestines and builds up in the ear nose and throat area and lungs and when that putrefies.. it feeds parasites yeast and fungus…for example dairy and meat turns to pus within the body and just feed parasites.
Fruit is the only foods that can go through the system without cause damage and eliminate easily with all the nutrients we need carbs, protein and minerals and fats.
So when you start detoxing what do you expect?
When you start to pull out the obstructions such as acids, mucus, proteins plaques, parasites, fungus, sulfur, worms, chemicals, and mucoid plaque you will experience cleansing reactions. Don’t be alarmed when having these healing crisis’s because once these toxic obstructions come out of the body you can start to heal. The body must break down to a remarkable degree in order to rebuild itself up again.
The cleansing process can range from very light with just a running nose and minor coughing to heavy, with deep bronchial and lung expectoration. Or/and rashes, headaches, old symptoms arising that you may have overcome, emotions, old patterns arising, behaviours, aches and pains…
These are what we call cold and flue like symptoms. The body wants to eliminate as much toxic Terran it can. The body will often feel weak and achy, but these are good signs that the body is starting to heal itself. this is when it is vital you do not suppress the detox with cooked foods or mediaction.
Aches and pains are common during detoxification. Remember acids in creates pain and acids out will create pain too. Pain is a result of acidosis that has created inflammation. Pain also develops when there are blockages locked in the body.
Pain will show itself wherever there are weaknesses in the body. Most of these pains will last from a few hours to a few weeks or in some cases longer.
Sounds horrid right! Why would you go through that?
Because 3-7 years of detoxing and cleaning the body will stop you getting diseases and sickness as you get older and stop the playing out of family diseases playing out!
IT WILL GIVE YOU YOUR CHILD BACK FROM THE BURDEN OF TOXINS THAT CREATE “AUTISM”!
I have been on this raw lifestyle for a while and only after that time and feeling amazing did I go into deep healing and cleansing and some symptoms have come back as they come up and out of my body and others have stayed away but each cleanse I get healthier and closer to my idea health goals. So I go through the sore eyes and the headaches and the longer fasts to get the goals I want. And I hold in my mind that I want to be healthier in my 40’s than in my 20’s and that I will age with health and vitality!
And my worst detox weeks I am still better off than my best unhealthy weeks!
Why we should DETOX?
Because you owe it to yourself and the next generation!!

I tried using many types of probiotics and supplements over the years on my kids, clients and myself… I’ve done candida diets and yeast cleanses and even tried adding more yeast in and other crazy things!
The balance within your body such as yeasts, funguses, worms, parasites, mucus, acids, protein plaques, microbes, virus etc….must get detoxed and removed out of your body to get to the root of health. In order to change the environment in the body we must clean out the old not just ‘add’ in new. Supplementing with “pills” in a body with a backed up septic tank will not get you true health.
When the body fails to function in areas such as digestion, absorption, utilization and elimination. Trying to fix the problem with an isolated pill, supplement or adding large amounts of one bacteria and one mineral will not bring the body balance…. especially as they are none organic in it’s holistic structure (no longer a whole food but a part of a food that has been chemically changed and isolated) is only going to feed the body with just another foreign invader creating more imbalance and stress. I think of the phrase in movies when they say ‘magic comes with a price’…well so does supplementation….
The body is designed to utilize holistic chemistry so thinking a supplement created in a lab by big pharma will do more then what a whole organic fresh ripe piece of fruit can’t do….is not thinking from a place that nature provides us with all we need, and it does!
Supplements suppress the function of the endocrine glands and throw the body out of balance…
‘Probiotics are dead fermented chemistry not designed for the body’ says Dr Herbet Shelton. The body is designed to create healthy gut bacteria from the foods we are designed to eat and our environment. When we detox the body and turn on the endocrine glands, everything goes back to balance. When we get back to nature and simply eat the foods our bodies are biologically designed to eat….the body will create healthy natural bacteria to fight of the microbe that cause obstructions naturally.
Probiotics and fermented foods like Kefir and Sauerkrauts only aggravate and make candida symptoms worse…I know that it controversial, as they are marketed as gut healing foods. Candida thrives on fermentation. Candida or (yeast) gets out of control in the body through fermentation so why add more in? When you have weak adrenals then you are likely to have blood sugar problems. When your not metabolizing sugars well, fermentation takes place. The fungal family comes in and feasts on the fermentation….so the food you eat is just feeding them not your cells. Why give the body more fermentation if you may already have a sugar metabolism issues creating the yeast overgrowth in the first place? We need some left in the body but for it to be at blanched ratio…
So if you have skin issues, weak yellow brittle nails, dry hair, bloating, gas or loose stools…you have a fungal imbalance.
The simpler we can look out how the body is designed to function optimally the more we will understand that supplementing is another way of masking a symptom and not addressing the root cause….just like prescription drugs!
Often these supplements are made from sister or cousin companies of BIG PHARMA…..just think about that for a moment with where the motivation comes from?
The best way to get rid of yeast overgrowths is to work on the adrenal glands with herbs/homeopathy and a raw living foods diet high in ripe fruits and the correct food combinations. If you think you have a candida overgrowth you should also avoid or never eat starches processed or in there whole food state. Starches are fungal formers and candida loves foods that create a lot of mould, such as starches and dairy products. If you have candida I would suggest keeping your fats to below 5 % of your nutritional plan too as the fats in the system will stop fruits being digested, and cause fermentation of the healthy fruits. High fruits, low protein and low fats are the best way to heal the body.
It’s very common for someone to crave breads, nuts and cheese when they have fungal problems….because the yeast thrive on these foods because the fermentation process takes place very quickly.
The goal to get healthy and to create balance in the body is to alkalize the body and to get the kidneys filtering and everything will come into balance on its own…not needing one extra mineral…with the exception of magnesium due to our soils and possible B12 until your body can utilise it from the organic fruits and vegetables and produce it in your gut.
Fruits, berries, melons, greens and herbs that promote detoxification is the best way to bring balance and alkalinity to the body with a daily mediation practice to boost your immune system and complementary remedies like essential oils, homeopathy and herbs. Yeast, parasites, fungusus cannot thrive in an alkaline body, nether can any pathogens and foreign invaders and viruses.
Dr Robert Morse teaches that there is only 2 sides of chemistry and that’s acid and alkaline. When you get on the alkaline side of chemistry and you detox the acids that are suppressing the lymphatic system, blocking the flow of energy and causing disease… then “nutritional ” supplementation becomes a void modality that was created by a mind and industry that doesn’t understand the lymphatic system and true healing like we do in Natural Hygiene.
It’s not what we add in that creates a healthy body it’s what we eliminate that creates a thriving healthy body with balance.
Detoxification is the best way to get to the root of the problem and if we are stuck on supplementation with PILLS, powders, supplements and thinking that we are adding in “Nutrition” …thinking that’s going to clean up the problem! Then we have been fully mistaking by so called “Health Experts” that are thinking no different then a medical Doctor that prescribes a drug to treat a symptom, not addressing the cause. So many of these healthy natural supplements and nutritional meal replacement systems are produced by big pharmaceuticals companies that make the medicines and drugs. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR LONG TERM HEALTH JUST ABOUT MAKING MONEY AND TEMPORALLY GIVING YOU THE SENSATION OF HEALTH.
The best supplement you can give your body is creating kidney filtration to drain the waste, so that he body can go on to thrive in proper homeostasis, balance and alkalinity. This takes time I have been on this journey for years….I hold strong that I am in it for the long term health and not quick gains. I picture myself a health 60 year old and smile with knowing this is the right path to healing.
Add in alkaline nutrition and stop putting acids in your body and you will never need an expensive supplement to mask a symptom and create an imbalance not aligned with nature…

Mucusless Diet Food List from Arnold Ehret of the most frequently eaten foods that cause mucus.
These are guidelines and practices that have proven to work the best when trying to transition to a raw mucusless diet. The Transition Diet is the systematic approach developed by Arnold Ehret to safely evolve one’s eating habits away from mucus-forming foods toward a mucusless diet. Keep in mind that this is a personal list that is based upon his own experiences and not totally aligned to a Natural Hygienist approach to Nutrition but I found it helpful with my youngest who was very full of mucus. Ultimately, each person will need to find transitional food items that work best for them based on their past eating habits, physiological type, levels of mucus/pus addiction, latent/chronic illness, etc.
In the following Mucusless Diet Foods List they explore the most frequently used mucusless (mucus-free) food items, and then look at some mucuslean options.

*Note this is from the book not my protocol 👇🏼
MUCUSLEAN (MODERATELY MUCUS-FORMING)
Below are foods that are mucus-forming, but I’ve found to be useful during the “transition diet.” When the following items are added to a meal, Arnold Ehret called the meal “mucuslean.”
Mucuslean: refers to the period of dietary transition in the Mucusless Diet where mucus-forming foods are used along with mucusless ones. Mucuslean menus are generally less harmful than standard mucus-forming eating habits by non-practitioner, and are an important part of the overall transition and systematic healing methods employed in the Mucusless Diet Healing System.
In the Muculess Diet Healing System, Arnold Ehret teaches how best to eat mucuslean items so that they do the least amount of damage and leave behind the least amount of waste. Most items, except nuts, should always be eating with a raw “combination salad” to help with digestion and elimination. See the Mucusless Diet for more on how to combine and eat mucuslean options properly.
STARCHY OR FATTY VEGETABLES AND FRUITS (SLIGHTLY MUCUS-FORMING)
Carrots and Beets (Raw; some people view carrots as mucus-forming. They have a little bit of starch content, but mostly eliminate well and function reletively mucusless in the body. Although I don’t juice them as much as I did in the past, they are fine to chop up and add to a salad). Sweet potatoes, quinoa and millet are the best cooked starch as they are low in sugar.
*I advise against eating avocados because they are ‘fatty’ and mucus-forming. However, I did use them to make sauces during the earlier parts of my transition and still eat them two or three times a year (when you can eat certain mucuslean item only a few times per year, you know that you are advancing along with the Mucusless Diet).
BEANS (MODERATELY MUCUS-FORMING)
Beans (Black Beans, Black-eyed peas Kidney Beans, Lima Beans, Navy Beans, Pinto Beans, etc.; Beans are my most steadfast mucuslean item. They are starchy, heavy, addictive, and mucus-forming, but I’ve found that they eliminate well if combined properly with raw salads and steamed vegetables. But, when it is time to be mucusless or fast, steer clear of them).
NUTS AND SEEDS (MILDLY MUCUS-FORMING)
Nuts (Cashews, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Peanuts, Pecans, Walnuts, etc.; I’ve always been very good about combining nuts with raisins and/or figs to aid elimination. Also, I learned early on to never eat nuts with juicy fruits. I ate a lot of nuts during the first couple years of my transition, and seem to eat them less and less every year. I might eat nuts three of four times a year now)
SEASONINGS (POTENTIALLY ACID-FORMING)
Some seasonings are acid-forming, it is okay to use many of your favorite condiments during the transition.
PROCESSED FOODS, CONFECTIONERIES, FERMENTED, OR DISTILLED DRINKS (ACID/PUS/MUCUS-FORMING)
Overall, It is advised to stay away from most processed foods, non-vegan sweets, and fermented foods and beverages.
VEGETARIAN/VEGAN PROCESSED FOODS (MODERATELY MUCUS FORMING OR POTENTIAL ACID-FORMING)
Chips/crisps (corn, potato, plantain) stay away from them if you can.
Hummus (processed cooked chickpeas with oil)
Soy Butter have a very high oil content and soy lecithin, which really should be avoided altogether.
Pasteurized 100% Fruit Juices (potentially acid-forming)
Plant-based butters (peanut, almond and cashew; something I only used for a couple years. As I became clean, nut butters started to really irritate my system).
Texturized Vegetable Protein (‘mock’ meats including soy, etc should be avoided as they are dead foods.
Vegan Baked Goods and Confections and raw treats. The Mucusless Diet is not about forcing yourself not to eat mucus, but transitioning away from it so that you can no longer crave or tolerate it.
Natural veggie patties (periodically you can find some veggie patties that are relatively ‘clean’ and will help you overcome bad cravings. They are much better to eat then going back to fast foods when the going gets tough. Just be sure to look at the ingredients on the label to make sure they did not sneak egg or dairy into it.
Canned/Jars or Tomoto Sauce (I would sometimes combined canned tomato sauce with freshly cooked tomotos, etc., to make a sauce to put over vegetables/salad. Avoid sauces that contain sugar or corn-syrup. If you are strongly against all packaged foods, simply stay away from it).
Vinegar Free Store-bought salad dressing (Obviously, it is best to make your own raw dressings, but there are a couple vinegar free dressings that Mucusless Diet practitioners have found and like to use over salads. Ehret strongly advises against using items that contain vinegar. Lemon juice is a much better alternative).
*My suggestion would be to use this to transition you to a high fruit raw living foods lifestyle. I found this helpful in steering the foods my highly mucus inflamed child eat to cleaner foods for his body. He loved nuts, avocados and humous, starches and all the things causing more mucus too form before I had chance to get it out…Hannah x

Detoxification of damaged cells and removing mucus, plague and rejuvenating organs takes sleep, no pressure on the body or digestion tract, clean water, a clean environment and TIME.
Foods like greens and fruit, melons and berries can help you do this but it’s not the food that detoxifies your body it’s the rest and sleep and introducing fasting where there’s no pressure on the body so it can use all the energy to HEAL. But the food you put in can HELP or HINDER this process i.e. either add to the toxic load or be easy to digest and help pull crap out of the body. Greens are one of the best way to remove toxins, heavy metals and chemical from your body dislodging them and allowing your body to pass them out on its own when you rest.
But only certain foods from nature help to heal the body. These are; fruit, berries, melons, greens, clean water, green juices, coconut water and young tender baby vegetables and sprouts! * Nuts, legumes and seeds and other vegetables and starches do not detoxify the body. I’m not saying they are bad for the body either but they are building foods not drawing foods.
This is a great way to start the journey to detoxing your body…replace your breakfast with this smoothie.
To make this:
Makes enough for 2-3
• 6 medium Bananas fresh or frozen. • 4 sticks Celery. • 1 medium Cucumber. • 1/2 head lettuce. • 1/2 cup of fresh coriander • 1/2 cup Sunflower Sprouts. • 1/4 cup fresh Broccoli Sprouts or 1/4 tsp Broccoli Sprout juice powder. • 1 tsp Hawaiian Spirulina. • 1 tbs Barley Grass juice powder. • 1 tsp Chlorella juice powder. • 60 ml Aloe Vera juice and
• 1 drop of cilantro essential oil.
THIS IS GREAT WITH THE POWERFUL KIWI 🥝INSTEAD OF BANANA 🍌 TOO!
We hear so much about superfoods and there is always a new berry or seed from a far away land packaged up ready to heal us! What about the common fruits you can get easily and eat every day?
Each fruit holds a different set of nutrients and can help you overcome deficiencies you may have or build you in areas you need. Learning to treat your body with these powerful packed goodies instead of supplements or pills or spending money on packaged super foods is the key to longevity, be it fertility, gut health, depression or removing heavy metals.
If I see a clients test results I work out how they can overcome these deficiencies by adding in more of one fruit or more of a vegetable to build the body up. Once you learn to listen to your body and what it’s asking for you no longer have the need for supplements or crazy diets. And the body stops the addictive craving rollercoaster as really you listen to what it’s asking for and you start to grab natures powerful gifts . . . not the chocolate bar or coffee. . .

These 4 fruits are very high in fat, but are of the best healthiest kind. However, you should eat these foods in moderation. If you are consuming a lot of fruit or you will end up with insulin problems. A low fat raw food diet usually works best for most people look into the 80/10/10 Diet. If you are a slow oxidizer and have weight to loose you should aim for 10% fat in your diet or less. If you are eating a 2000 calorie diet this works out to be about 22 grams of fat per day and this adds up quicker than you might think. One avocado has about 25 grams of fat and one olive has 1 gram of fat. If you are a fast oxidizer you can eat a higher percentage of 20% but be careful not to consume too much high sugar fruit or stay high fat for too long.

What’s the nutritional difference between cooked and raw foods?
When you cook vegetables, you change their chemical composition making them unable to be utilised by the body. Depending on the method and time, cooking reduces the amount of antioxidants in the plants.
This is especially true for water-soluble and heat-sensitive nutrients, such as vitamin C, glucosinolate and polyphenols. Cooking can reduce a nutrient’s ease of absorption into the body, making them useless for the body and it becomes a mucus forming food making it toxic for the body and thus causing inflammation.
We are all energy so eating foods high in energy, vitality and life force will help us have that energy and vitality ourselves. When you eat raw living alkalising foods you feel alive! The food moves through your body faster feeding your cells with high nutrients and a high water content hydrating you from the inside, better than plan water alone in some foods like cucumber, lettuce and watermelon. When you eat heavy, acidic, fatty cooked foods you want to sleep as your system is so overburdened and toxic it removes the energy and oxygen from the brain and muscles. And has to work hard to digest the heavy fatty foods sitting in the intestines, fermenting and dehydrating the body and causing an acidic state which leads to disease and cancer.
Food combining and why is it essential for health!-chart.
If your new to a plant based diet, even though you lose some nutrients value when cooking vegetables, I would still suggest building your vegetable intake up first moving to a 100% plant based diet and removing all animal products, with lightly steamed vegetables and greens. Then when you can and feel ready swapping cooked vegetables for as many raw vegetables as possible to help build your enzymes up in your gut and help PH balance your body, allowing for detoxification of the blood and lymphatic system – remembering fruit and raw vegetables and lots of greens are the only way to detox your body and remove heavy metals and mucus thus healing your body from disease and sickness. Cooked foods are mucus forming and lacking in enough nutrients to build your body to health. We are all so deficient these days with the quality of our soils, food, water and air . . . so to remove nutrients from our food by cooking it is not helpful. Also cooked foods are feeding the parasites and fungus our body are becoming imbalanced with because of it being to acidic. When the body is acidic and deficient in minerals and enzymes, diseases start and cells mutate into cancer. We want to make the body alkaline and thriving!
Knowing how detoxifying raw living foods are, start slowly when adding them in. Swapping 1 meal a day to a completely raw meal combined correctly, and build up. Or eating raw foods till dinner then a lightly steamed dinner. . . until you have regained enzymes to break the food down and the detox symptoms are manageable (this way of eating will not give you full healing properties as the cooked foods will stop you detoxifying fully). Or like me go 100% raw over night ride out the few days of detox and feel amazing and vibrant faster!
Either way increasing your raw greens, fruit and sweet young vegetables will benefit your body so much. You will see it in your skin, energy and vitality. If you can eat a food without doing anything to it bar peeling it then it’s a good raw food for the body. If you have to season it or cook it to make it palatable then it’s not our food.

For Healing Diseases and Autism. . .
Mexican style raw tacos are a favourite in our home for our special treat meal . . .you will love them too…great messy finger food for the kids and packed full of flavour while being healthy and low in fat and the option to make them starch free too. Dress them up with toppings or just eat them simply . . .
What you will need:
Makes for 4-6 serves.
The “Taco” mixture:
2 corn on the cobs kernels removed (optional if you are no starches at present)
6 semi dried tomatoes soaked
2 dates soaked and pitted
4 fresh large tomatoes halved
1/2 punnet cherry tomatoes quartered
2 sticks celery one for the blender and 1 finally diced
1/2 tsp smoky paprika
1/2 tsp sweet paprika
1/2 tsp cumin powder
8 brown mushrooms and a pinch of dried mushroom if you have it
1 finally diced zucchini
1/2 red capsicum diced
juice of 1 lime and zest
1 loose cup coriander chopped
1/2 loose cup mint chopped
1/4 loose cup parsley chopped
soaking water (about 2-3 tbs)
Iceberg lettuce or coz lettuce to serve as tacos
1 cup finally shredded red cabbage
Sprouts or micro herbs
Pesto or dip (optional)
How to make these:
Soak the dates and tomatoes in very little water till soft (you use the water in the mixture so only use a little, so you keep all the flavour.
In a blender add the 4 large tomatoes, 1/2 the mushrooms, celery, dates, semi dried tomatoes, cumin, paprika’s and soaking water and blend till smooth but still with texture. Then add the remaining mushrooms and pulse till textured.
In a medium bowl add the corn kernels, 1 stick of diced celery, diced capsicum, diced zucchini, lime zest and juice, chopped herbs, quartered cherry tomatoes and stir together.
Add the tomato sauce from step 2. and stir again.
Spoon the mixture into the lettuce cups which I would suggest lining with shredded red cabbage…and top with your favourite toppings!
This mixture gets more flavoursome with time, so I suggest making it in the morning. This will also allow the mixture to set and the liquid to drain off allowing the “tacos” or lettuce cups not to get wet…
Finish with micro herbs or sprouts and slices of avocado or vegan chipotle mayonnaise or vegan sour cream….I used coriander pesto! Dairy and soy free sour cream.
Are they a health food or stopping your gut from healing? How many is good and in what combination is best?
People who have had inflammatory bowel disease or leaky gut or suffer with a gut-brain connections such as (depression, autism) generally do not digest fats well because they lack the enzymes needed to break them down, I was no exception and the low carb high fat diet nearly killed me! Then moving away to a gourmet raw vegan diet. . . I still overloaded on raw desserts and nut cheeses and pates as I was living a gourmet raw diet trying to recreate cooked dishes that were so high in fats and hard to digest foods and fancy gourmet dinners.
This is what I’ve learned and why I now eat a simple diet with simple combinations and a small amount of seeds germinated here and there.
High- protein, fatty and oily foods must be minimised, especially during the first year of gut recovery or you will plato and cause long term damage. Learning to eat within your digestive limitations is so important for healing no matter what your mind wants and your eyes see. Fat intake must be increased gradually only in accordance with what you can properly digest good overt healthy fats are essential in the diet but must be stopped or minimised at first to get the healing. Overeating on overt healthy fats like nuts, seeds, coconuts and avocados will, typically, stress the digestive system and create a toxic condition indicated by gas, foul, putrid bowel odours, stomach acidity, constipation, fatigue, etc., which can trigger an inflammatory bowel disease flare up. None mind bad fats, them you just need to steer well clear off.
• One to two ounces of nut or seed or nut butters eaten with one dinner (away from fruit) in a salad meal once per day, may be all the fat that anyone can digest effectively after healing inflammatory bowel disease. Or 1/4-1/2 of an avocado may be your digestive limit per day.
• Raw (ungerminated) nuts are difficult to digest; but, when eaten in small quantities (one ounce per meal, once per day, one to three times per week, depending on your digestive strength (I can not even cope with that much without getting sluggish and tired) and of course chewing them well with lettuce, celery or cucumbers, then they might digest ok and give healthful benefits. The masticating action (chewing) of our teeth is not capable of effectively breaking down hard nuts and seeds to particle sizes small enough to be completely digested by our stomach acids. We are not squirrels! Stomach acid can only act on the outer surface of the nuts particles; if acidic digestive enzymes are not able to act on the protein within the particles, the protein will pass through the system unused and without giving you its nutrients and will putrefy in the bowel causing bloating, gas and wind. Activating your nuts and seeds helps with this.
• Raw nuts and seed smoothies (made with water, citrus fruit (only) or vegetables in a blender) and raw nuts and seed butters -made in good blenders and or available in jars from health food stores, not mass supermarket brands. Are much easier to digest than unprocessed whole nut and seeds, and are, therefore, recommended to eat. Still, they are very rich in oily fat which can cause problems if eaten beyond your digestive capability and you know how fast a bag of nuts goes or a jar of nut butter. So go easy on them with small amounts in the right food combinations and always the freshest highest quality. Food combining and why is it essential for health!-chart.I would suggest having smoothies with fruits, greens and water with NO NUTS OR SEEDS ADDED.
• “Living” nuts and seeds, i.e., raw nuts such as almonds germinated/sprouted in water for 12 to 24 hours then sprouted in room temperature air, are more digestible than ungerminated (raw) nuts. The soaking and germination process hydrates and softens the hard fiber and reduces complex proteins into readily digestible amino acids. Germinated nut and seed blends (cheeses or patés) are perhaps easiest on the digestive system—an easy salad dressing is to blend one to two ounces of nuts or seeds with water, fresh-squeezed orange juice, a slice of orange or a tomato in a blender, then use this as a salad dressing or dip for vegetables.
• Experiment making nut and seed milks. Soak raw nuts or seeds in purified water for 2 to 24 hours, rinse well, blend at high speed with purified water in a blender, then strain and slowly drink the milk, mixing in your saliva. Chew chew chew even liquids!
Step by Step – Making Nut and Seed Milks.
• Avoid old rancid nuts and seeds that’s any that come from a supermarket or in packets, they can be 1-3 years old—these tend to feel soft, taste cheesy with no sweetness and appear darker in color than when they are fresh. You are not getting nutrition from these just toxins and more mucus being formed.
• Heated or roasted nuts and seeds are very toxic and must be avoided. Avoid roasted and salted nut and seed butters. Never cook with nuts!
• Peanut butter is not recommended because: 1. In raw or heated form, it is difficult to digest due to its high protein and starch content which we know doesn’t digest well; 2. In roasted form it is highly toxic; and 3. Peanuts are one of the most heavily pesticide-sprayed crops even in Australia.
• Organic, whole, raw peanuts can be eaten in moderation if they have been sprouted (soaked in water and allowed to germinate for several hours). However, these are subject to a toxic, yellow mold and must be carefully inspected and eaten with caution. Peanuts are actually a legumes and not recommend for gut healing as they are hard to digest.
If you are to eat nuts I would suggest choosing high omega 3 nuts like walnuts, pistachios, Macadamia, Brazil nuts which are great brain foods, over the higher omega 6 almond if you can. I do not suggest the raw nut desserts the are so hard to digest and are high in fats and rancid oils. Once you’ve done the healing work add them in as an occasional treat or different texture!

Food combining has been increasing in its awareness in the last decade but was brought to our attention by Dr H Shelton in the 50’s and 60’s. It is recognized that our stomach digests foods at different rates and by using different enzymes to digest each food. If we desire to have optimum health and wellness, we must know the importance of maintaining a properly “balanced diet” in relation to the acid/alkaline diet. Without proper food combing principles our diets will eventually lead to indigestion and acidosis. This will rob us of our cellular energy required to attain an overall healthy body.
Instead of looking at food as “Calories” look at it as fuel that if our bodies are able to assimilate them with ease we get energy. If your stomach is unable to digest the foods properly it doesn’t matter how much nutrition is in the food or what the diet is called, because your body isn’t absorbing any and you become malnutritioned, most of the western world is fat but malnutritioned. We are fat and starving!!
The good thing is when you’re combing food properly your body will reduce weight, eliminate bloating, feel good overall, and get the most out of the foods you eat and will keep your gut healthy. And the energy goes to running your brain and healing your cells.
So how do we do this food combining thing?
1. Never Eat Carbohydrates with Acidic Foods in the Same Meal.
Do not eat bread, potatoes, peas, beans, bananas, dates, or other carbohydrates with lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, pineapples, tomatoes or other sour fruit.
The enzyme, ptyalin, acts only in an alkaline medium; it is destroyed by a mild acid. Fruit acids not only prevent carbohydrate digestion, but they also favor their fermentation. Oxalic acid diluted to one part in 10,000, completely arrests the action of ptyalin. There is enough acetic acid in one or two teaspoons of vinegar to entirely suspend salivary digestion.
Tomatoes should never be combined with any starch food. They may be eaten with leafy vegetables and fat foods. The combination citric, malic and oxalic acids found in tomatoes, (which are released and intensified by cooking which is why I do not suggest cooking tomatoes ever!), is very a detrimental to the alkaline digestion of starches in the mouth and stomach. They should not be used on salads during a starch meal.
In cases of hyperacidity of the stomach, there is great difficulty in digesting starches. Much discomfort is caused by eating them. They ferment and poison the body. Acid-starch combinations are very rare in nature—the sour apple coming nearest to being such a combination to which we natural spit this out . . .
2. Eat Fruits First
Fruit is a food that digests best when eaten alone. While you’ll read in (4.) not all fruits digest best together, it has the fastest exit rate of the stomach as fruit does not digest in the stomach, therefore fruits should be eaten first or alone. For those concerned about their blood sugar or candida, as long as fruit is eaten without fat and/or with leafy greens, blood sugar will remain stable. So fruity raw deserts are a disaster on the digestion. fruit is abundant in nutrients, anti-oxidants, and water, fruit is an excellent snack that is easily digested by the human body but needs to be eaten first, starting with acid fruits then moving on to sweet fruits and proteins after all fruit has been consumed!
3. Protein and Starches do NOT mix
Is it a common occurrence to consume a heaping serving of mashed potatoes next to a large portion of meat and/or dairy? This is one of the worst food combinations ever, but can easily be improved. Because the human body requires an acid base to digest proteins and an alkaline base to digest starches, this can lengthen the time of digestion and cause fermentation in the gut. This can lead to bloating, indigestion, and stinky bowel movements as the food putrefies in the gut.
To correct his, it is best to eat proteins with non-starchy vegetables and especially leafy greens. Starches can be consumed on their own or with other vegetables, but not with protein. Proteins that are cooked renders the protein particles in it useless for the body, and cooking demonises it making it unable to be digested fully.
4. Eat Melons Alone-ALWAYS!
Have you ever had the mistake of consuming watermelon after a dinner? Most likely you experienced gas, a slight blood sugar drop, and/or nausea. That is because melons are the type of fruit that digest completely different than other sweet treats. For optimal digestion, melons should be consumed alone and on an empty stomach first thing and then not eaten again in the day. Remove them from your mixed fruit salad.
5. Greens, Greens and More Greens
Greens are easily ruled as one of the best foods for mankind. Loaded with amino acids (building blocks of protein), essential minerals and nutrients (B vitamins, magnesium, iron, and more!), along with fiber (great for digestion). They combine well with all foods, and therefore should make a regular appearance on your plate. If you’re not consuming your 3 – 5 cups of vegetables a day then adding a cold pressed Barley Grass powder it to water, juice, or your favourite smoothie can help keep your mineral up!
For example, a salad is a great contribution to every meal and the live enzymes will help your other food digest smoothly. Eat your salad before any other food on your plate for maxima digestion.
6. Fats & Oil
While overt healthy fats combine well with everything (except fruit!), they should be used in limited amounts as they are very calorie dense and slow down digestion and when used with fruits cause bacteria and yeasts breakouts. Oils should not be consumed as they are not a whole food and when cooked become indisputable and poisonous to the body. Therefore, save your meal with fats like avocado or nuts for dinner or allow your body at least 4-5 hours to digest a dense lunch before eating again.
7. Probiotics (Friendly Bacteria)
You should only take probiotics 30 minutes before a meal not during. Mixing probiotics with a meal may decrease some absorption. The reason is that the probiotic ends up spending more time in the stomach. Another reason to take them on an empty stomach is because before the journey to the intestines, the bacteria will have more difficulty surviving the harsh stomach acid during digestion, affecting their potency.
Don’t take them after a meal! Probiotics that are taken after a meal have even more difficulty surviving stomach acid levels as this is when your stomach acid is at its peak. A study from 2013 found that when a probiotic supplement was taken after a meal, extremely low levels of bacteria actually survived.
A recent study in the Journal of Beneficial Microbes showed that probiotics are optimally absorbed when taken prior to a meal and were absorbed almost as well when taken with a meal containing fats. If you are however eating vegan plant based diet, high in complex carbohydrates and fruits and low in fats you should not need Probiotics.
Because foods digest at different rates, you can lessen the pressure on your body by waiting until the previous food has left the stomach and is being digested in the intestines. Wait the following amount of time between foods that don’t combine:
Two hours after eating fruit
Three hours after eating starches
Four hours after eating protein
If you eat proteins no water for 4 hours after.
If you eat starches no water for 2 hours after
If you eat fruits no water for 30 minutes after
If you eat vegetables no water for 1 hour after.
